Sushi Robot is coming to town on November 13th. Save the date!
It’s been a long time coming. These guys performed back in early 2009 with their band, The Violent Jokes, and rocked the house in Shekou. Now returning as their live electronic incarnation. They produce their own music, mix it, and improvise on the spot. Consisting of an Aussie dropping beats on Ableton Live and midi controllers + an Italian on keys and a sampler, Sushi Robot is truly unique. Every set is a new creation. They’ve been performing around Asia for the past couple years and opened up for Roni Size in 2009. In Shenzhen, they’ll drop one set of live electro/breaks and one set of live drum n’ bass. Bring it on! Listen to their music here.
From their website:
“Upfront and Ruthless. Sushi Robot is the duo of producer’s Simon (BassManGriff) and keyboardist Claudio (SyntheC) Canzonetta. Both members of Hong Kong outfit Violent Jokes and The Projects, Sushi Robot is our Drum&Bass project. We’re quickly establishing ourselves in the Hong Kong dnb scene. Our tracks contain our signature deep & sub bass sound. Sushi Robot, mixing up styles and flows, yet always keeping it locked down. We started producing together in 2007. Music aimed for electronic-heads. We offer something other than cheesy post rock and pop music. We mix dnb, all kinds of breaks, heavy bass, and electronica. We will make your ears bleed.”
To see just how fucking dope these guys are, watch this video. If you love underground/creative/dance/live music, you don’t want to miss this. As usual we’ll have free mix cd’s available. The event will go down at 25th Floor True Color, our fist time back there in about 5 months!
